Greenseal™is our trade name for the EPDM RUBBER geomembrane produced in Sweden by our long standing Butyl supplier, Trelleborg AB, who over the last 35 years have produced in excess of 45 million square metres of Geomembrane for world wide distribution. Greenseal, an EPDM lake liner of exceptional quality, is produced in 1.7m wide strips the same as Butyl, it has the same physical characteristics as Butyl with a cost saving of about 30%.
We fabricate these narrow strip materials into large lake liner sheets using our unique hot bond seam welding process. This process is performed using our in-house designed and patented vulcanising presses, allowing us to manufacture single sheet liners up to 1800mē (40m x 45m) in our UK factories. The same process is often used on-site to join multiple large sheets for reservoirs and lagoons.
EPDM is not affected by UV light; it remains stable with advancing years regardless of temperatures from -40C to +120C without shrinkage, melting, brittleness or cracking. Used extensively by landscapers and civil engineers for lakes, canals, tank liners and reservoirs, its sheer durability and flexibility makes it the perfect choice for any landscape project.

On-site seaming systems explained
Butyl Rubber and Greenseal™ EPDM Lake Liner
We fabricate Butyl and Greenseal 0.75mm thick, single piece lake liners up to 1800sq.m in our factories, so for many projects joining sheets on site is not an issue. However, when larger sheets are required, or where pond profile and/or existing obstacles predict, it can be necessary to join two or more sheets in-situ.
Field seaming of multiple pond or lake liner sheets can be achieved in one of two ways depending upon the membrane materials used. Butyl and Greenseal EPDM sheets will usually be Hot Bond Welded in-situ by a trained installer using our patented Hot Bond Site Press technology. This process is similar to our in-house patented welding system and achieves a high strength, vulcanised, overlap seam that is even stronger than the base material.
Firestone PondGard™ EPDM Lake Liner
The Firestone PondGard EPDM lake lining system is based on the 1mm thick EPDM geomembrane available in a range of pre-fabricated panel sizes up to 15.24m x 30.48m (50ft x 100ft). Where required multiple panels are joined on-site using a method of manually applied self-adhesive EPDM/Butyl tape and accessories known as the QUICKSEAM™ system.
We have trained many professional landscapers and lake liner installers to use this method and can recommend an installer (or train you). Although the components needed add to the overall cost of the project, it usually works out more cost effective to field seam in this way than hiring a welding press and operator for a day.

Firestone QuickSeam™ Components and Accessories
QuickSeam™ Splice Tape for field seaming of Firestone EPDM PondGard panels. Used with QuickPrime Plus Primer and a QuickScrubber pad to clean and prime mating surfaces. Supplied as a 76mm x 30.48 m (3.0” x 100ft) roll or part roll cut to the nearest 0.5m.
QuickSeam™ Form Flash is a 228mm (9") wide, uncured EPDM flashing laminated to cured seam tape. QuickSeam FormFlash is used to flash inside and outside corners, reinforce lap seams, cover repairs, pipe penetrations pockets and other applications as specified by Firestone Installation Guidelines. Supplied as a 228 mm x 15.24 m (9.0” x 50ft) full roll (or part roll cut to the nearest 0.5m). Thickness: 1.6 mm (0.065” ). Used with QuickPrime Plus Primer and a QuickScrubber pad and handle to clean and prime mating surfaces.
QuickSeam™ Universal Pipe Sleeve (Moulded EPDM) For sealing around pipe penetrations. Suitable for pipe sizes: 25.4 mm - 174.6 mm (1.0" - 6.875") O.D.
Comes complete with QuickSeam Tape already applied to flange and Stainless Steel clamp to secure to pipe. Base Flange: 330 mm (13.0") O.D.
Note: Installation requires QuickPrimePlus Primer, Scrubber Pad, Hand roller, Water Block Seal and Lap Sealant .

Geotextile Underlay Liner Protection
All geomembranes require protection from sharp objects in the substrate that can puncture a liner. We recommend that our underlay is used beneath all our liners, not only to help protect liners from penetration by sharp stones, roots, etc, but also to reduce excessive localised stretching of the liner that may occur when sub-soils move.
TenCate Polyfelt TS60 (260gsm) and TS40 (180gsm) geotextiles are mechanically bonded continuous-filament nonwovens manufactured from UV-stabilised polypropylene. The mechanical properties of Polyfelt TS guarantee excellent resistance to installation damage, excellent hydraulic properties and outstanding long-term performance. When required this protective felt is used above and below the liner membrane.
