Turtle Productions – Irrigation Lagoon

Investing in a water storage facility of this magnitude is a significant undertaking, and we prioritize the quality, performance, and longevity of the lining system as it is a crucial asset for our business. For the lagoon project, C&M Agri undertook the excavation and surface compaction. Collaborating with lining installation specialist Turtle Productions, we opted for the GeoGard EPDM membrane.

Turtle Productions initiated the process by placing a geotextile fleece directly onto the compacted ground. Subsequently, C&M Agri employed lifting equipment to position the 15.24 m x 30.48 m rolls of GeoGard EPDM lining at the top of the bank. The installation team then skilfully maneuverer the rolls into place, unrolling the EPDM sheets and ensuring a 150 mm lap between them. To create a seamless lining, Elevate’s Quickseam Splice Tape was used to join the sheets, enabling the lagoon to be filled with water as soon as the final seal was completed.

Mark Hennell of Turtle Productions adds, “Our team comprises eight highly trained operatives, all equipped with comprehensive training from Elevate for the installation of the GeoGard EPDM lining system. Remarkably, we completed the installation of all 24 large sheets of membrane in just one week, ensuring the creation of a facility with a projected service life exceeding 50 years.”

After the GeoGard EPDM lining membrane was installed, the C&M Agri team proceeded to backfill the anchor trench, securing the lining in place. This swift action allowed the lagoon to be filled promptly, ensuring its immediate functionality.
