Turtle Productions – Swimming Pond

After the success of Turtle Productions’ inaugural full-scale swimming pond project in Failand, Bristol, we were approached by these clients while working on domestic pond installations. This inquiry came about after a competitor, unable to fulfil the unique demands of our clients, had visited them.

Initially, the clients specified the necessity for a 25-meter-long swim lane, tumble-turn walls, and a summerhouse deck, all seamlessly integrating with a deck adjacent to the house. Consequently, the dimensions of the swimming pond were established at 30 x 20 meters. Turtle’s confident response was, “No problem.”

This time around, there seemed to be no hidden complications with the project—or at least, that was the initial perception. However, the Herefordshire soil, while delightfully crumbly when dry, presented a challenge. As we excavated, the farmers’ wish for rain transformed the site into a scene reminiscent of the battle of the Somme.
