WaterGems FIFE Garden

Water Gems, winners of the BALI Grand Award, collaborated with garden designer Carolyn Grohmann from Secret Gardens to create an award-winning private garden.

Using a Gordon Low Pond Liner, they crafted a figure-of-eight-shaped pond with a ribbon edge made of cut sandstone. The pond features bold marginal planting, a glass-like surface adorned with water soldiers and lilies, making it the focal point of the garden. A green-roofed arbour against dry stone walling, with a spacious deck underneath, serves as a sheltered seating area for contemplating the pool.

Carolyn Grohmann explained that the pond’s design aimed to avoid overwhelming the garden with water, opting for a figure-of-eight shape to provide a long reflection line. The twisting ribbon defines the water’s edge, and a pale sandstone was chosen after considering various materials and colours.
