GORDON LOW SEALECO EPDM Rubber pond liner - 0.75mm and 1.00mm

SealEco EPDM (Greenseal) pond liner is a synthetic rubber membrane with exceptional physical properties making it the ideal choice for lining ponds, lakes, lagoons and streams. Despite their different chemical compositions, SealEco EPDM and SealEco BUTYL look and feel the same. Continued rise in the cost of Butyl rubber polymer limits its economical application for lining ponds that require large quantities of material.

EPDM rubber, developed in 1959 has, over the last 50 years, become more widely used in building and civil engineering. As a result of higher current levels of production, EPDM has become more economical than the Butyl rubber. As a pond liner geomembrane producer we now fabricate far more EPDM liners than Butyl liners due to the competative price and exceptional properties of EPDM that in some instances even out perform the more expensive Butyl option, which is of course still available from Gordon Low.

SealEco EPDM is the fish-safe EPDM pond liner produced by the same Swedish manufacturer that has supplied our Butyl for more than 30 years, SealEco AB(formally Trelleborg AB). We originally used Greenseal EPDM for our tailor-made water tank liner range of products and extended its use into the pond liner flat sheet manufacturing side of the business.

During production the EPDM is vulcanised (cured under pressure and heat) creating an elastic, chemically stable product with negligible aging through exposure to UV-radiation, atmosphere, chemicals, earth, water and extremes of temperature. SealEco EPDM pond liner is black in colour. The initials EPDM are derived from its major components of Ethylene, Propylene, Diene monomer and is an M class synthetic rubber. Interestingly Butyl Rubber actually has EPDM in its compound to enhance certain properties.

We fabricate pond liner sheets from 1.7m x 40m rolls in any width up to 60m. Any size single sheet pond liner from a 2m x 2m water feature up to a maximum 1800m2 lagoon liner is fabricated in house. Multiple panels can then be welded together on site using our patented Hot-Bond site weld presses.

GORDON LOW PRODUCTS - official SealEco Manufacturing Partner

What does it mean to have your pond, lake or water tank liner manufactured by an Authorised Manufacturing Partner?

As a SealEco Authorised Manufacturing Partner, Gordon Low Products have fulfilled the requirements of the SealEco Manufacturing Partner Agreement. In short, this means we are fully authorised by SealEco to prefabricate (hot bond weld/vulcanise) pond liner sheets and water storage tank liners in the UK, from raw material rolls supplied by the membrane producer, SealEco AB.

However, not only has the fabricator to be an experienced firm customarily engaged in factory fabrication of EPDM or similar roll goods into large prefabricated panels by thermo-fusion and/or hot bond vulcanisation methods, but the fabricator and their manufacturing processes and documentation methods shall also be approved by the EPDM manufacturer.

For example, the fabricator shall maintain panel fabrication QC documentation to include the following information:

1. Project number/customer order (manufacturing order number), associated panel size, date of fabrication, name of fabricator etc.
2. Tracability of all associated SealEco EPDM roll numbers with manufacturers documentation. (ie. roll, lot and batch numbers, date of manufacture, etc.).
3. Records of visual inspections and seam testing.
4. Each fabricated panel/sheet shall be rolled and/or folded and packaged with protective cardboard or plastic or rubber membrane wrapping with prominent and unique identification as to panel number/size and markings indicating direction of unrolling/unfolding to facilitate layout and positioning according to the panel layout drawings.

All this information is recorded on our computerised manufacturing system but is also displayed on our unique yellow product labels.
